Why I'm supporting the junior doctors strike

Today Junior Doctors are striking all over the country. I stand in solidarity with them.

Austerity and the devastating cuts to public services always hurt the most vulnerable people the hardest. The dedicated staff working at the front-line, such as Junior Doctors, struggle daily to provide the quality care that all our citizens deserve, but they are also human and need to be treated with respect and listened to. When the government is intent on a policy of downgrading and diminishing public sector workers someone has to fight back. And that's what we are doing. These young medics are not naturally militant so to see them on strike demonstrates the deep crisis the Tories have provoked. Having spent time on the picket line in Manchester supporting this cause, I stand in solidarity with the Junior Doctors and all public sector workers who are fighting to maintain the caring and compassionate Britain we need!
